Sixth form

Applications for September 2024 are now closed.

Our Results

We are very proud of the excellent results that students received this summer. Some highlights include:

  • 40% of grades were at A* and A.

  • We are in the top 25% of Sixth Forms nationally for progress.

  • 40% of our students progress to Russell Group Universities including two students going to Oxbridge.

"Our sixth form prioritises academic opportunities for students, both within their lessons and beyond the taught curriculum. Our smaller class sizes at A-level, with an average of twelve students per class, ensure that teachers are able to provide high levels of individual support to students.

Moreover, our teachers provide opportunities for students to engage more deeply and widely with their subjects through our subject specific lecture programme and our super curricular offer.

We do not view our sixth form experience as only being a two-year period; rather, it is a journey from year 11 through to future careers and adult life.

Ensuring that students are provided with the best guidance while writing their UCAS applications is just one way in which we support students.

As a result of this support, a high number of students are successful in applying to, and being accepted into, the most prestigious universities, including Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.”

Pastoral care

In the sixth form we offer a bespoke programme of pastoral support to our students. The Head of Sixth Form is supported by a Sixth Form Co-ordinator, Pastoral Leader, Head of Higher Education and Head of Careers. Students are supported by this team on a daily basis to achieve their full potential during their time in the sixth form.

Tutors play an active role in each student’s sixth form journey; they are the first port of call for any concerns and support, and they ensure that each student is achieving their potential in every aspect of sixth form life. Tutor sessions allow the tutor to check on student wellbeing, UCAS applications, study skills and careers guidance.

Scholarships

Scholarship is at the heart of the education we offer at Pimlico Academy. We place supreme value on equipping our students with the knowledge that will see them thrive academically during their time in the Sixth Form, and set them up to flourish in life when they leave us at the end of Year 13.

There are currently six Sixth Form Scholarships available annually: one each in Music, Drama, Sport and Art, as well as two Academic Scholarships; applications are invited for each from students currently at Pimlico Academy and those applying for a place in our Sixth Form from elsewhere.
