Reading
In order to ensure that students enjoy the full breadth of the curriculum, we provide the Reading Guarantee, designed to ensure that no child is left behind because they are reading below their chronological age.
All students benefit from the Reading Guarantee by engaging in a programme that not only supports reading proficiency but also promotes reading for pleasure, fostering a lifelong love of books.
Students’ reading is assessed annually, giving us a rich understanding of how well our learners are able to read. These assessments help us identify any student reading below their chronological age so that we can intervene quickly, enabling them to catch up and keep up.
For students who need additional phonics support, we provide targeted intervention through the Ruth Miskin Fresh Start programme, ensuring they develop the foundational skills required for confident reading.
