Facilities

Our Sixth Form offers a range of dedicated facilities to support both academic study and independent learning, including:

  • A Sixth Form common area
  • Quiet study spaces
  • Access to library resources

Enrichment and Wider Opportunities

Every student attends enrichment during periods 5 and 6 on a Wednesday, in which they hear from a wide range of speakers from the fields of law, writing and science, and learn about different career pathways. During weekly form time, students learn about career pathways, complete wider reading and update their opportunities log.

All those with a 7+ APS at GCSE complete The Scholars Programme and are part of our Early Entry C programme in Year 12 (50%), where they have weekly sessions to raise aspirations and ensure their success should they decide to apply to university as an EEC.

Sixth formers are effective mentors of lower school students through a mentoring programme in which they are trained as mentors. They read with students with lower reading ages, are active members of student parliament, line managing lower school students, and organise their own clubs and societies, e.g. baking club for DofE, bake sales and football club. They also go on countless subject and university trips to get them out of their comfort zone and engage with their subjects in the real world.

Leadership, Mentoring and Student Life

Sixth Form students play a vital role in the wider school community.

They are trained as mentors and support younger students through:

  • Reading support for those with lower reading ages
  • Active participation in student parliament, including leadership of lower school representatives

Students are also encouraged to lead and develop their own initiatives, including clubs and societies such as:

  • Baking club (linked to Duke of Edinburgh)
  • Charity bake sales
  • Sports clubs, including football

In addition, students take part in a wide range of subject trips and university visits, helping them to engage with their learning beyond the classroom and build confidence in new environments.
