What We Offer

At Pimlico Academy Sixth Form, we provide a structured, ambitious and supportive environment that prepares students for success in higher education, employment and beyond.

Our Study Programme

All students are enrolled onto a comprehensive Study Programme designed to meet and exceed national expectations, including a minimum of 580 planned hours of learning and participation.

Our offer includes:

  • A minimum of three A Levels for all students
  • A broad programme of enrichment, independent study and development activities
  • Dedicated support to prepare students for progression into higher education or employment
  • A structured Work Experience placement in June of Year 12
  • The opportunity for all students to complete an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) in Year 12
  • Daily tutor time, including PSHE, alongside weekly core enrichment.

Each student’s programme is carefully tailored to develop their character, confidence, skills and aspirations.

In addition, students benefit from extensive UCAS preparation and expert careers guidance, ensuring they are fully equipped for their next steps.

Facilities

Our Sixth Form offers a range of dedicated facilities to support both academic study and independent learning, including:

  • A Sixth Form common area
  • Quiet study spaces
  • Access to library resources

Enrichment and Wider Opportunities

Enrichment is a core part of Sixth Form life at Pimlico Academy.

Each Wednesday, students take part in dedicated enrichment sessions where they hear from a wide range of external speakers, including professionals from law, science, and the arts. These sessions broaden horizons and provide valuable insight into different career pathways.

In weekly form time, students:

  • Explore career pathways
  • Complete wider reading
  • Maintain and update their personal opportunities log

Students with a GCSE Average Point Score of 7 or above take part in The Scholars Programme and our Early Entry Programme in Year 12. Through weekly sessions, these students are supported to raise their aspirations and prepare for competitive university applications.

Leadership, Mentoring and Student Life

Sixth Form students play a vital role in the wider school community.

They are trained as mentors and support younger students through:

  • Reading support for those with lower reading ages
  • Active participation in student parliament, including leadership of lower school representatives

Students are also encouraged to lead and develop their own initiatives, including clubs and societies such as:

  • Baking club (linked to Duke of Edinburgh)
  • Charity bake sales
  • Sports clubs, including football

In addition, students take part in a wide range of subject trips and university visits, helping them to engage with their learning beyond the classroom and build confidence in new environments.
